Getting your learners permit is the first step in gaining your drivers licence. A licence to drive opens up new employment opportunities!

This course supports you to understand the road rules so you can pass your learner’s test and have more job opportunities.

You can join this course if you are:

  • a South Australian resident, or hold a valid work or study visa, and;
  • 18 years or older, and;
  • not enrolled at school or in a Flexible Learning Options program
  • preparing for work or study.

Who is this course for?

This course is for people who want to get their learners permit and understand South Australian road rules. Learn the basics on how to maintain a car and work towards getting your P plates.

Prepare yourself for work, build your confidence and learn the correct and safe sequence of driving a car – from the moment you open the car door to when you finally arrive at your destination.

Once you successfully pass your learners test, you will also have your L’s Permit paid for to help get you on your way to getting your P’s! (Saving you $69!!)

Learn in a safe, fun environment whilst improving your computer skills to help you prepare for further work or study.

What will I learn?

Some of the topics included in this course are:

  • Understanding of key SA road rules
  • Registration with the My Ls platform (saving you $38!)
  • Understanding how a driver’s licence links to employment
  • The role and cost of RAA Roadside assistance
  • Minimising the risk of an accident and general road safety
  • Practical basic car maintenance (tyres, fluids, service intervals, and pre-drive inspections)

How will I learn?

This course is provided face-to-face. It may run between 6 to 8 weeks – refer to the individual course details on the registration page.

This course is taught by a Community Learning Trainer who is there to help you in feeling confident. Working alongside them are our Community Learning Mentors who are dedicated to your individual learning journey and can offer one-on-one support if you need it.
