Community Learning Courses

Our Community Learning courses are offered in-person through our adult community education project. Each term includes various courses that are held at Community Centres or Community Spaces.

These courses can be accessed for free by anyone in the community that is:

  • a South Australian resident, or holds a valid work or study visa, and;
  • is 18 years or older, and;
  • is not enrolled at school or in a FLO program.

This course will help you to understand your emotions and needs, and how these influence your interactions with others, to have impactful conversations that boost your confidence and help you feel good for work.

Have you heard about LinkedIn and are interested in learning more, or have a LinkedIn account that you don’t use?

Join this course to learn about the basics of LinkedIn, using it to search for work and building your professional online presence.

If you’d like to work with people, build your confidence and make a meaningful impact in your work, the aged care and disability support sector is an ideal choice.

This introductory course helps you to identify the skills you already have, as well as the job requirements to work in this industry, and to understand the importance of person-centred care.

Launching your own small business can create new opportunities and alternative income streams for yourself.

This practical, step-by-step course will guide you on how to launch, grow or refresh your small business ideas. 

This program helps you understand the link between employment and a licence, supports you to understand the road rules to a level where you can successfully pass the Learners test, includes a session on road safety and a practical session on basic car checks all drivers should know how to do.

This program is designed for learners who have had limited coffee machine use and who want to gain confidence and experience with the view to working in the sector or further training. It is a requirement of the program to sample coffees you or other learners have made.

The program is not accredited but is being delivered by a presenter who actively works in the sector.

Getting your learners permit is the first step in gaining your drivers licence. A licence to drive opens up new employment opportunities!

This course supports you to understand the road rules so you can successfully pass your learner’s test and increase your job prospects.

Workplaces and places of study require us to have a working knowledge of computer programs and internet-based technologies.

This course will help you to build the digital skills you need to confidently pursue and engage in work and study.

Improving your English language skills can build your confidence in everyday life and prepare you for work and study.

This practical course will help you to identify your employment goals and to read, write and speak effectively in an Australian work environment.

This course will help you to understand your emotions and needs, and how these influence your interactions with others, and the daily self-care tools you can use to boost your confidence and feel good for work.

Identify the skills employers are looking for that you already have, expand your job seeking methods, improve your ability to answer interview questions, write a winning cover letter, and create a resume that will get you the job.

This course will help you develop the skills you need to seek and secure employment.

If you are looking to explore a pathway into kitchen work, cooking for aged care or disability or looking to kickstart your food service career, this course is for you! With our experienced hospitality facilitator, you will learn a range of theory and practical skills to start you on your pathway to further study or employment.

Our Community Learning facilitators have industry experience and knowledge to help you safely and successfully take the next step, whatever your current work-life needs, background, age or focus.

If you are looking to explore a pathway into gardening, landscaping or horticulture but want to learn some basics to get you started, this course is for you! With our experienced horticulture facilitator, you will learn a range of theory and practical skills to start you on your pathway to further study or employment.

Our Community Learning facilitators have industry experience and knowledge to help you safely and successfully take the next step, whatever your current work-life needs, background, age or focus.

Understanding and developing your efficiency in Microsoft Office is a highly valued skillset for most workplaces. If you would like to explore all the ins and outs of Microsoft Office and the diverse practical application of tools available, then this course is for you! Our experienced tutor will take you step by step through the basics of applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint and explore some of the more specific tips and tricks that can give you a professional edge.

This course includes engaging practical information and classroom theory with resources available to take home for additional skills development.

Community Development Courses

We offer a selection of courses both online and face-to-face for community development practitioners and CCSA members. Self-led online courses can be provided upon request as bespoke face-to-face training for a group or organisation. Click the ‘More Information’ buttons to see the individual course pages in detail.

Upcoming Events

A one hour online webinar hosted by CCSA that provides a broad introduction into Governance for Board/Committee members. Suitable for new volunteer Board/Committee members in community centres, sporting groups, or other community organisations.

The cost of this webinar is included in CCSA membership.

Self-Led Online Learning

This course is an introduction to the theories and approaches of community development in a modern, rapidly changing society.

This course has a particular focus on South Australian, local communities. It is a paid course with a discount for members.

These FREE digital training workshops are designed for any adult community educators, or community and neighbourhood centre staff/volunteers that are looking to develop their knowledge and skills.
